Welcome to The Old Blog
Below you will find entry into The Old Blog. These posts cover the entirety of The Big Change from Life Afloat to The Hiatus. It’s a long read so take your time and come back often. While it’s a big ask on my part, understanding how I ended up where – and why – I did will simplify the so-called narrative arc and make a lot less work for me trying to explain all that in each and every current post. So strap in and get started but be warned: there be dragons here.
The Old Blog is shown starting with the oldest post. This – rather thoughtful move on my part – means that, when read in order, you get to see how the whole story with all its twists, turns, and confusing diversions simply falls into place. Sort of like tossing a jigsaw puzzle into the air and having it land with each piece exactly where it belongs.
But that’s life.
Thanks for reading.
This Is For the Birds
In yet another look into compulsion, addiction, and the battle between humanity and nature the author decides that life really is for the birds.
Bread and Circuses
In which the author, uncharacteristically, weighs in on the upcoming presidential election in the US and laments on the quality of the candidates. (NOTE: This was for 2012. How far we’ve fallen since…)
The Last Time for First Impressions
In which the author brings his reader up to date on the impressions of his new home in the Pacific Northwest gathered over his first year of residence.
I’m a Lumberjack, and That’s Okay
In which the author is forced to confront his neighbors in an attempt to safely remove a dead tree while remaining true to the Founding Documents.
Hi, Honey. I’m Home.
In which the author lays out the unusually long ramp to the beginning of his beekeeping adventure, or disaster, or whatever.
Darkness on the Edge of Town
In which the author invokes his thinly disguised complete lack of astronomical knowledge to explain why winter, in Seattle anyway, sucks.
