Welcome to The Old Blog
Below you will find entry into The Old Blog. These posts cover the entirety of The Big Change from Life Afloat to The Hiatus. It’s a long read so take your time and come back often. While it’s a big ask on my part, understanding how I ended up where – and why – I did will simplify the so-called narrative arc and make a lot less work for me trying to explain all that in each and every current post. So strap in and get started but be warned: there be dragons here.
The Old Blog is shown starting with the oldest post. This – rather thoughtful move on my part – means that, when read in order, you get to see how the whole story with all its twists, turns, and confusing diversions simply falls into place. Sort of like tossing a jigsaw puzzle into the air and having it land with each piece exactly where it belongs.
But that’s life.
Thanks for reading.
A Man for All Seasons
In which the author bemoans his life’s choices; specifically the most recent which involved the purchase of a smartphone and comes to terms with the old saw: “Just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean they’re not out to get you.”
Turning Over a New Leaf
In which the author is straightened out by his friend with a tid-bit of wisdom that could have come straight from The Buddha himself, or maybe Alvin and the Chipmunks. Don’t think it matters to the story.
Cat People
In which the author, despite the rhinitis and red eyes they cause him, has acquired cats.
The Best Laid Plans
In which the author lays out, like so many soggy blueprints, the actual build-it-as-you-think-it construction philosophy he works under.
Drifting Along With the Tumbling Tumbleweeds
In which the author begins his narrative in Europe, segues into his mealworm proto-ranch, and whisks us back across the pond to finish, where we started: the impending global financial collapse.
Like a Sign from the Universe
In which the author, buoyed by as-yet-unrealized success ranching mealworms, starts looking to expand to an actual ranch.
